17 December
I just promoted the new print on Instagram with a video, zooming from close-up to far-away.
Shot on my iPhone 8, wobbly hand-held-style, it hopefully offers an air of autheticity. You can never be sure these days.

Problem fixed! The Store is properly linked to the new print now.
Sorting out some webpage formatting issues between full-screen and phone formats, testing on various devices. Sorry if you see glitches - or don’t see them! My old laptop doesn’t display the Store images for some reason. Please let me know about any issues.
One weird and interesting thing that I don’t have any control over is how the print looks on the partcicular screen on which you are viewing it. On both my phone and desktop screens, the lake looks a bit too turquoise/cyan. In real life (to my eyes, at least), from a distance the actual print looks greyscale from a distance. It’s funny how I took so long getting this right for the painting - and now the print - only for screen technology and its algorithms to mess with human perception.

Sorry everyone! I’m going to have to withdraw the new print, Colorado Snow Effect 6 (2008/2025) and relaod it onto the website. Something went wrong, which I can’t figure out. I’m going to start from scratch, carefully going step-by-step uploading the new product and images, then do another test order.
The Store will re-open later today with just Colorado Snow Effect 4, which remains unaffected by this glitch. (Hopefully! - maybe you can test it for me?)
Please email me with any comments, questions or requests. There is only one control-freak person (me) at the end of any correspondence (but I do have several other distractions). I don’t know how my human singularity (non-AI) can be proven - but give it a try. Ask me something only I would know.
To make amends for this debacle of shambolic unprofessionalism - or probably adding to it - until New Year Colorado Snow Effect 4 (2007/2025) has a 20% price reduction.
(Crikey - I could have made a successful career in copywriting and marketing!)

With no promotion, I’ve had many more hits on the website than usual over the last 24 hours. After the drama of the launch of the first print (see below), I’ve decided to temporarily close the Store to check the ordering, printing and shipping process works by ordering a test print. Appologies to any frustrated potential purchasers out there. I should be able to reopen the Store in the next few days…

Sales of Colorado Snow Effect 4 (2007/2025) have been ticking along over the months since the initial flurry of interest. I’ve had many nice comments and no serious hitches in the shipping process. No complaints about the print.
There has been no news as I’ve not added any new prints - until now. Colorado Snow Effect 6 (2008/2025) has just been added. The price is considerably lower, even if it is a smaller print. The painting hasn’t received the viral social media interest as Colorado Snow Effect 4, which encouraged an ambitious price after taking advice from various artist friends. I’m testing the water with this more affordable price. It’s all an experiment! We’ll see how it goes…
20 April
Received the first message from the USA:
”I wanted to let you know I received my print in excellent condition in New Jersey, USA. Thank you again it looks great!”
15 April
The Store is now up and running. Thanks for your patience.
8 April
Thanks for quite a few messages via email or Instagram. My expectation is to be able to relaunch the checkout 15th April or soon after. Please DM or email me if you’d like a message to let you know when it’s about to reopen. Sorry for the delay!
31 March
I added a small link to danhays.net on my old website, danhays.org, last week, and I’ve had more enquiries about when the store checkout will reopen after pausing to verify everything went well with the first wave of orders.
But there is another issue holding things up. The hosting platform, Squarespace, are taking time to verify my status in order to receive payouts from them, which takes 15 days or longer. This is a normal procedure, carried out with all new selling sites, which I should have been aware of before excitedly launching this website. Thinking about it, I can understand the need to thoroughly check my credentials (I’m guessing to counter fraud and other forms of illegality). But not expecting a delay, I missed this information in their guide amid the steep learning-curve of dozens of other pages about design, setting up the product, shipping prices, etc. - as well as connecting seamlessly to theprintspace’s creativehub - which all went well.
Payments need to be in place to ensure automated printing and shipping costs are covered, especially if I receive a substantial number of orders. Better safe than sorry.
I’ll post here when the store checkout is ready to relaunch, before publicising this website more widely a day or two later.
27 March
Received the first messgage from a buyer in the UK:
“Received the print today, Dan. Very happy with it, excellent quality paper and ink. Very well packaged. Will look amazing in our house. Thank you.”
My reply: “That’s so great to hear! Such a relief! Thanks for letting me know. I can feel confident to promote the print more now.”
24 March
Store temporariliy closed for testing
Orders already placed (thank you!) are in the process of being printed, packed and shipped.
Being a new venture (launched 21 March 2025) - with orders coming in quickly - I feel the need to verify that everything is working properly between myself, the web server (Squarespace) and the printer/shipper (theprintspace) - to check prints are smoothly ordered, packed and shipped over the next few days. I don’t have any particular concerns, but before I publicise the website more widely, it seems sensible to pause and check with the first wave of buyers that everything is as it should be on receiving their prints.
Normal service should hopefully resume soon. Thanks for your patience.
